Bartzella, yellow intersectional peony
Stock#: ih-bz-3
Price: $99.00
Considered by many to be the best yellow intersectional peony.Award winner in the U.S and Europe, this plant is a cross between a tree and a herbaceous peony. It will grow in full sun, or 5-6 hours of sun, in well-drained soil. The flowers are large, yellow, 7-8 inches in diameter, with a sweet fragrance.
It is still considered quite rare and not widely sold. It was hybridized by Roger Anderson in the U.S. in the 80's and we think it is a prize to add to a peony collection. Roots have at least 3-5 eyes, and are well-balanced with the root system. Each "eye" grows into a stem, so you will see a young plant the first spring, which grows quickly to produce flowers in about one more year, though these plants often bloom next spring.
It is a strong growing plant, reaching to 36-42 inches tall at maturity.
This peony can be shipped in dormancy to USDA zones 4-7 in spring 2012. Zones 8 & 9 will ship in fall.
