Large anemone form, velvet textured peony has honey-scented, fragrant flowers. Very likely descended from Chinese peonies brought to Europe in the 19th century. This flower reminds us of several Chinese herbaceous peonies we have grown, both in fragrance and form. Plant is a generous bloomer with strong 32 stems which hold the flowers upright. Flowers open in our Connecticut garden in late May to early June. If you are searching for a fragrant peony for your collection, consider this one. Can be shipped in fall dormancy to USDA zones 3-8.
