Monsieur Martin Cahuzac -
Dark-red-maroon, fragrant, classic herbaceous peony. Double flower with excellent stem strength, 6-7 inches in diameter.
Considered a French herbaceous peony, registered by Dessert in 1899. Very likely descended from Chinese peonies brought to Europe in the 19th century. This flower reminds us of several Chinese varieties we have grown, both in fragrance and form.
Large rose form, dark red-maroon, velvet textured peony has beautifully fragrant flowers. The plant is a generous bloomer with strong 32" stems which hold the flowers upright. Flowers open in our Connecticut garden in late May to early June. If you are searching for a dark, fragrant peony for your collection, you will not be disappointed in this one.
